The second day of the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange project "Harvesting Hope: Tackling Food Waste" (Project No: 2024-1-IS01-KA152-YOU-000227481) continued under the coordination of Green Behavior Youth Organization, bringing together young participants from Iceland, Portugal, Croatia, Czechia, and Türkiye to explore the global impact of food waste.✨
Participants attended the Food Waste Panel Study, where they examined how food waste occurs throughout the entire food chain—from agricultural production and transportation to restaurants, hotels, supermarkets, and households. Discussions highlighted the environmental, economic, and social consequences of food waste, including climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, resource depletion, and global hunger.
The day also featured the Presentation: Consequences of Food Waste, helping participants understand the hidden environmental costs behind every meal and encouraging them to become more responsible consumers by recognizing the value of food from production to consumption.
These educational sessions enabled participants to better understand why reducing food waste is essential for protecting both people and the planet.✨
