Building Climate Guardians: Empowering Youth Workers for a Sustainable Future

The Erasmus+ Mobility of Youth Workers project “Climate Guardians: Youth Workers for a Cleaner Tomorrow” (Project No. 2024-1-LT02-KA153-YOU-000205187) was hosted in Vilnius, Lithuania, from 6 to 12 October 2024 by Delta Environmental Association VšĮ, with the participation of the Green Behavior Youth Organization and youth workers from Lithuania, Poland, Iceland, Türkiye, and Hungary. The mobility created a collaborative environment where participants explored sustainable practices while strengthening their professional competences in environmental education and international cooperation.

Interactive introductory activities fostered trust, creativity, and a strong sense of teamwork. Through participant-designed presentations and dialogue-based exchanges, youth workers developed communication skills, collective planning abilities, and confidence in expressing their ideas. These first encounters laid the foundation for an inclusive learning community built on mutual respect and active participation.

Orientation sessions and discussions about the Erasmus+ programme provided participants with a clear understanding of project objectives, responsibilities, and future opportunities. By asking questions, sharing expectations, and collaboratively designing mobility project ideas of their own, the group enhanced its critical thinking, project-development skills, and appreciation of the values that underpin European youth cooperation.

Learning about the Youthpass certificate encouraged participants to reflect on their personal and professional growth. Storytelling exercises connected Youthpass competences with environmental and climate themes, making the learning process memorable and meaningful. Regular evaluation activities further strengthened analytical thinking, self-assessment, and the ability to transform experience into concrete learning outcomes.

Intercultural exchange reached a vibrant expression during the Lithuanian cultural presentation, where traditions, cuisine, music, and customs became tools for dialogue and understanding. Such encounters broadened perspectives, nurtured respect for diversity, and reinforced the conviction that collaborative action across cultures is essential for building a cleaner and more sustainable future.
