The Erasmus+ Mobility of Youth Workers project “Legacy of the Soil: Sustainable Agriculture and Safe Food” (Project No. 2024-3-ES02-KA153-YOU-000260774) was implemented by Green Behavior Youth Organization and hosted by Generaciones Saludables España in Gijón, Spain, from 28 April to 5 May 2025. Bringing together participants from Turkey, Spain, Hungary, Poland, and Iceland, the project created a dynamic space for youth workers to explore sustainable agriculture, food safety, and environmentally responsible lifestyles through non-formal learning.
Immersive environmental activities invited participants to experience the journey of waste and to reflect on the importance of recycling. Through dramatization, observation, and dialogue, they developed empathy for nature while strengthening their communication and problem-solving skills. These experiences highlighted the value of individual responsibility in preserving ecosystems and promoting circular practices.
Practical cycling sessions complemented the educational programme by encouraging healthy living and sustainable mobility. Participants improved their cycling skills, gained confidence, and recognized the potential of active transportation to reduce emissions, noise, and congestion. The workshops demonstrated that personal well-being and environmental stewardship can progress hand in hand.
Interactive discussions on the climate crisis and ecological lifestyles deepened participants’ understanding of food security, responsible consumption, and sustainable living. Surveys, presentations, and open exchanges fostered critical thinking and inspired youth workers to identify practical actions that support resilient communities and safe food systems.
Creative dissemination activities and intercultural sharing transformed learning into visible outcomes. By designing nature-inspired promotional materials and presenting their countries’ agricultural traditions, local foods, dances, and languages, participants strengthened intercultural dialogue and reaffirmed their shared commitment to a greener and more sustainable future.
